Lori L. Stephens
Lori L. Stephens led most of her life in turmoil and great loss.
However, with her newfound hope on life, she completely turned
her life around and became a part of the solution, instead of
being a part of the problem. She now enjoys helping others in their
struggles with addiction. In one way it is her payback to
society, in another way it is where she gets her most pleasure.
She hopes to one day open a 'clean and sober living' house for those
who are working on a program of recovery. Lori lost her father to cancer in 2006 and has a family member with breast cancer. After TRAPpED was published she wanted to do something to help. She was introduced to an amazing group of very inspiring women all volunteers. They are breast cancer survivors, helping breast cancer survivors. A non-profit organization called the “Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation.” (ROL) The Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation is a circle of people committed to providing education, advocacy, emotional and social support to all in the community affected by breast cancer. Welcoming and reaching out to all cultures, genders and ages.
Lori put on a Mothers Day fundraiser for them in 2008 and found a new passion. After actor Danny Trejo and his wife Debbie read her book TRAPpED they became good friends. Danny and Debbie came out to help at the fundraiser for ROL. It was an amazing experience for everyone. Lori now has the honor of being the fund raising chair for the Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation, along with being very active in her recovery, helping others in their recovery, and going back into institutions to speak to other women. She now looks forward to each and every day with a new out look on life.
